2026 Spreading Guidelines (Feb 21-22)

Important Contact:

Mulch HQ: Janet Botha: (312) 810-6044
drop off folders at the end of each day: 803 N Lake Davis Dr, Orlando, FL 32806

Start Times & Team Assignments:

  • Saturday: 8:00 AM at realife church parking lot by the gym.
    • 2565 E Kaley Ave, Orlando, FL 32806
    • https://maps.app.goo.gl/7zWyJDxWWr8uB5wMA
    • South Region: 8 teams - 20 total cubic yards per team (each team spreads approximately 20 cubic yards).
  • Sunday: 8:30 AM at Real Life SoDo
    • North Region: 6 teams
On either day, Mulch HQ may redirect your team to additional orders to help the whole group finish faster!

On-Site Tasks:

  • Distribute and spread mulch according to customer instructions.
  • Pick up any trash and ensure a clean worksite.
  • Stay Connected & Flexible: After finishing a house, before heading to your next conquest, text the mulch hotline with your team letter and the completed yard order number (e.g., "Team G finished 20-308"). This helps us keep track of progress, potentially add team members, assign new orders, or even redeploy your team to assist others. The goal? A synchronized mulch-spreading finish time for everyone!
  • Always Check: Even if you have instructions, please check to see if anyone is home when you arrive at a house.
  • No One Home? If no one is home, please look for instructions and payment. They should be placed on the porch or on the mulch stack.
  • Secure Payments: As soon as you receive a payment, please put it in your MULCH FOLDER envelope. This will help prevent any misplaced payments.
  • After conquering a house (one mulch pile at a time!), fill out your team's section of the order form, noting the total donation amount and payment type (cash or check – may the best tender win!). No need to list individual times or team member names.
  • For cash donations, be a receipt-giving hero and provide the customer with a record of their generosity, including their name, order number, and donation amount.
  • Keep all the stuff customers give us – maps, notes, envelopes, the whole shebang!

No Instructions/Payment? Here's the Plan:

  1. Contact First: If you arrive at a house with no instructions or payment, or unclear instructions, try calling and/or texting the customer.
  2. No Payment, No Spreading: We do not spread mulch at any house without payment.
  3. Can't Reach Them? Leave a message (call and/or text) asking the customer to contact you back.
  4. Wait Briefly: Give the customer a few minutes to respond.
  5. Hotline Time: If you still haven't heard back, call the hotline for further assistance.
  6. Suggested tip is $30 per cubic yard.

What to Bring (Essentials for Everyone):
  • Gloves
  • Utility knives
  • Rakes (both iron and leaf)
  • Hats
  • Multiple water bottles
  • Lunch (either packed or money to purchase lunch)
  • Red Class B shirt — please remember that you will likely get dirty. Red mulch, in particular, can stain, so keep this in mind when choosing jackets and pants to wear.
  • Comfortable sneakers or work boots. NO open-toed shoes or sandals.

Equipment (If You Have It):

  • Highly Recommended: Gorilla Carts or Yard Wagons. These are the most efficient for mulch spreading.
  • Not as Effective: Smaller wagons or hand truck dollies.
  • Pens/Pencils
  • Rakes to spread mulch. the small fan rakes are very helpful
  • A broom to clean off hard surfaces like sidewalks and driveways. A blower also works well, just be careful because the city of winter park requires electric blowers only.
  • Put your name on EVERYTHING you bring - jackets, gloves, water bottles, knives, gardening stuff!

Drivers:

  • Please bring coolers to keep water bottles cold.
  • Vehicles capable of carrying Gorilla Carts are highly beneficial for transporting equipment.
  • Team Changes: If team members come or go throughout the day, the team leader must text the mulch hotline immediately to keep us in the loop.
  • End of Day Report: When your team finishes for the day, the team leader should text the hotline with the team letter and the completion time of your last house.
  • Break Time: Please keep lunch breaks to 30 minutes or less, and minimize convenience store, gas station, and restroom breaks. Let's hustle so we can all wrap up sooner!

Thank you for your hard work and dedication to making Mulcharama a success! We appreciate your efforts in making our community beautiful!
